Hello friends, colleagues, family, and folks!
I hope this note finds you healthy, and bright. (If you're wondering why you're getting this message, please see my footer at the bottom of the email. I'm also kinda nervous about this whole "newsletter from my studio" thing, so I'm happy you're reading this!) While the summer wanes and a new season begins,* I'm eager to share a bit of news with you about recent happenings in my art world, and some upcoming exhibitions.

β This June, I was thrilled to be chosen as one of Sing For Hope's 2016 Piano Artists. The largest public arts project in NYC, The Sing for Hope Pianos are placed throughout the five boroughs - in parks and public places! My piano was painted full of lush roses, hydrangeas and peonies in remembrance of my sister.
β I was privileged to have curated the 2016 Summer Exhibition at the Elizabeth V. Sullivan Gallery at Vytlacil - both a celebration and swan song for the closing of the Art Students Leagueβs artist-in-residence program where I currently work.
β I am pleased to say that my small painting sold at the "A Conversation With Nature" exhibition, hosted in Sean Scully's studio in Palisades, NY. The exhibition supported environmental education at the Blue Rock School in West Nyack, the Lower Hudson Valley's only progressive independent day school serving students K-8.

β I am thrilled to be included in the palette painting show curated by Trek Lexington and Dina Brodsky, coming to The Lodge Gallery (Lower East Side, NYC) in October 2016.
The show is called POINT OF ORIGIN so I am painting a wooden palette custom made for me by my muse, given to me to use in my studio way back at "the beginning."
Here's a sneak peek of the show:

β In her curatorial debut, metalsmith Elena McCabe is working with Sparkill's Union Arts Center to highlight EARTH IMPERMANENCE.
A selection of artists and scientists speaking about the vulnerability of world in which they live, this exhibition touches on the fragile beauty of our shared environment.
In this exhibition, I'll be showing one of my biggest paintings to date!

Thank you for letting me share my first studio news with you!
In the future, I will gather up news about my artwork infrequently in a short e-epistle like this, but you can see what I'm currently up to - kittens, chickens, gardens, musings on life, works-in-progress, beautiful things, and (of course) beers - on my social media. I hope you'll stay connected with me! Feel free to share my newsletter with a friend, and please keep in touch.
This letter carries my best wishes for you,
Charis
